How can we help, if we do not understand? How can we connect, if we do not have the basic tools to communicate? How can we enjoy our common humanity, if we do not appreciate what is unique and special in each other? United Planet embraces these critical questions through our innovative approach—The United Planet Quest. United Planet’s special Quest experience combines meaningful volunteer work, cultural and language activities, and discovery excursions and events. All of these components are essential to ensure responsible and respectful international volunteerism. United Planet Quest volunteers engage in a wide variety of Cultural and language activities, as well as discovery excursions and events, vary depending on each diverse Quest location. In Peru, for example, while performing meaningful community service work, Quest volunteers have the opportunity to study Spanish or Quechua (the indigenous language); learn handicraft making, local dance, and Peruvian cooking; and visit Machu Picchu.
These important activities inspire and enable United Planet volunteers to make a greater difference in the communities they touch and create a lasting impact within their gain greater cross-cultural sensitivity, hearts and minds. |
