United Planet Global Health Fellowship

United Planet’s Global Health Fellowship is a career learning program for high-potential, under-served high school students around the United States. We provide immersive local and international healthcare education opportunities for America’s next generation of healthcare professionals.

The Program

United Planet will select ten high-potential high school students from around the country to inspire and prepare as the next generation of 21st century global health leaders. These promising youth will travel to Ecuador for a culturally immersive 10-day global health experience in summer, 2016, and apply their newly gained global perspective to healthcare challenges within their own communities. Fellows will leave the program with a firsthand understanding of critical global health issues, broadened cross-cultural sensitivities, and highly developed team-building and leadership skills.

In addition to immersing themselves in the challenges, opportunities, and culture of a different country, Global Health Fellows will participate in lectures and discussions with practitioners and innovators in their own communities. Additionally, Fellows will give presentations about their unique experience to classmates at their schools and within their communities in an effort to raise awareness for global health issues, inspire others, and recruit the next class of Fellows. Fellows will be called upon to act as advocates and speakers on behalf of the program, helping to inspire and engage larger audiences and spread awareness for global health issues.

Through these efforts, United Planet will inspire and prepare these young Fellows to become lifelong agents for positive change in a world where a better, more sustainable future depends on the ability to effectively collaborate across borders of all kinds.

Hear From Previous Fellows

My experience was excellent because I was exposed to so many different things. From the health system in Ecuador to the culture, even to politics. It was a great opportunity.

-Natasha, 2015 Global Health Fellow

I experienced a completely different culture and lifestyle. It made me realize that there is so much more in the world than Boston. Being able to volunteer abroad also made me think about what I can do to make the world a better place.

-Harry, 2015 Global Health Fellow

This experience supported my interest in healthcare as I saw how people in the clinic took such good care of their patients. That makes my interest in becoming a nurse so much stronger.

-Cat, 2014 Global Health Fellow
