Under-18 volunteers interested in participating in a Quest over the summer have the opportunity to participate in this 10-day Quest focused on leadership training and immersion in projects related to Children & Education, Global Health, and Environmental Sustainability. The Teen Summer Quest will be taking place in Cusco, Peru! Teens will have the option to choose between the two program dates listed above.
The “Local Leaders” program is intended to give teen volunteers a unique opportunity to immerse and learn about a new culture, while focusing on leadership development and team-building. The 10-day program will include site visits to local organizations that provide services related to Children & Education, Global Health, and Environmental Sustainability. At each project site, volunteers will have the opportunity to meet the “local leaders” or heads of each organization who can speak about the various services provided and unique challenges that are faced every day.
In addition to the volunteer work and seminars by the leaders, volunteers will have the opportunity to take Spanish language classes at a local language school in Cusco, participate in cultural activities such as salsa lessons, and go on an overnight excursion to Machu Picchu to end the trip! This program is meant to provide an authentic, immersive, and comprehensive experience and hopefully each volunteer will return home with a deeper global perspective and appreciation for the world!
Note: While the “Local Leaders” Teen Summer Quest is not a formal group Quest, it will give teen volunteers an opportunity to travel with other volunteers similar in age during the specific dates. However, volunteers are traveling on a individual basis. Our In-country Coordinators are on the ground and will provide support during the dates listed and introduce volunteers to all the various project sites and leaders.
*Teens may be asked for a preliminary interview prior to enrollment completion to understand previous experience and motivations.
