Virtual Group Volunteering
As a virtual volunteer group, you’ll collaborate and work together to support international nonprofits and social enterprises. Take the opportunity to learn and practice important life skills, encourage teamwork, and forge a stronger sense of community among group members. United Planet will work closely with you to plan, implement, and provide support for a unique experience that is built specifically around your group, your people, and your goals.
Building Your Virtual Group Quest
United Planet works closely with universities and high schools, businesses, and individuals, to design a volunteer experience that is built specifically around your group, your goals, and your budget.
- Customized time frames, starting at 4 weeks and up
- Working with cohorts of 5-20 people per project, the number of projects will be scaled to the number of participants
- Dedicating 5+ hours per week to independent volunteer work
- 1-2 hours of live meetings with project contacts per week
- Program fees are customized and can be priced per student or placement

Program Elements
- Group Virtual Volunteer programs are available for customized time frames, based on the availability and preference of the group. Host organizations and then projects will then be chosen accordingly. Examples can include a 10-week program, with one live meeting per week, a 4-week program, with 3 live meetings per week, and etc. Independent work hours will be determined by the actual project work.
- Groups will receive a program proposal with weekly project scope and deliverables once the time frame and project have been determined.
- Groups are invited to join a pre-program training session, Global Citizenship training session, and can add on cultural activities and language lessons. Sessions are typically one hour and can be spread out over the course of the group program.
Program Options and Examples
- Health sciences groups that require hands-on medical experience/observation – Past group examples include educational resources regarding local health issues, mental health, burn prevention, etc.
- Service-based school groups (community engagement offices, alternative break programs, girl scouts, etc) – Project examples include virtual language or topic-based lessons (including cultural exchange), marketing/promotional support (website, coding) and consulting, fundraising.
- Corporate groups with specific skills, knowledge (business development, marketing/branding, agriculture) – Consulting to local social enterprises and NPOs

Children and Education
Support community organizations that focus on improving the lives of children and youth, such as schools, after school programs, as well as women’s shelters and more while learning about the unique challenges communities face around the world and gaining exposure to the local culture of the community.

Support organizations that aim to combat social issues like poverty, inequality, homelessness, economic development, women’s rights, and more. Volunteer to ensure the community has access to basic necessities, empower women, support displaced refugees, advocate for human rights, support sustainable development in rural and urban areas, and more.

Support organizations that conserve the environment, address climate change, protect wildlife, and more through collaborating with local professionals to support their organizations and efforts to provide environmental education to surrounding communities.
Global Health
Support community health professionals and organizations in research, proposal writing, crowdfunding, development of technology tools in public health, and more. You can also gain real insight into shared healthcare challenges through supporting organizations focused on facing mounting health challenges.
