United Planet is delighted to announce its involvement in an exciting new exchange program between high schools in Boston and Mongolia. This program will roll out soon; the first exchange will take place in summer 2011, when fifteen students and teachers from Boston public schools will travel to Mongolia; the Mongolian students will visit Massachusetts the following fall. As on United Planet Quests, the participants will stay with host families in their homes.
The program has been designed to teach the students about free expression in civil society. They will be visiting schools and media outlets. The program will also allow other students and teachers in both regions to take part in activities, discussions and training sessions about this topic.
An online community will be created as a result of this program. iEARN-USA, United Planet’s partner in this project, is facilitating this through their multimedia collaboration center. This will allow students to exchange ideas on the issues they are learning about, and gain the perspective of another culture.
The program is funded by a grant from U.S.Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
