It’s that time of year again. The leaves are beginning to change; warmer jackets are being donned; the sun is setting earlier and earlier; and of course, the schoolwork is finally starting to pile up. Naturally, this leads our minds to drift toward our next big break – the winter holidays! It is a time that many take for themselves, to escape the cold and plan a warm vacation. But what if you could do something unique, adventurous, and most importantly, that would make a difference in the world?
Well…you can!
Volunteering abroad is a unique opportunity because it not only allows you to visit and tour a new part of the world, but it also gives people the chance to truly interact with the locals and positively impact the lives of those in need. What better time to do so than during your winter break?
To help you out, we are excited to share our Top 3 Winter Break Quest Destinations!
Peru
Being one of our most popular Quest locations, Peru was naturally also a choice for our Top 3 Winter Break programs. There is a huge variety of community development quests available. The majority of them entail working with children and are available for those 16 years and up, meaning that our high school students can take some time off to travel and volunteer too! Volunteers may help out on community quests within orphanages and day-care centers, even if they are only available for a week. No matter how long the stay, an unforgettable excursion to Machu Picchu is included in the Quest! Click here to read more about our short-term Quests to Peru!
Nepal
We selected Nepal as another ideal choice for a Quest location this winter break because of its constant availability throughout the holiday season. Our programs in Nepal do not close for any of the holidays, such as Christmas Day, so our volunteers would be guaranteed the ability to contribute every day. Furthermore, our Quests to Nepal also include exciting excursions, such as trekking in the Himalayas, for adventurous travelers! Click here to read more about our short-term Quests to Nepal!
Romania
Another of our most popular destinations, Romania is a unique United Planet Quest option open to everyone aged 16 and up (another goodie for our high school students!) and gives volunteers a chance to create their own community by living together in a volunteer house. The Orphanage and Community Development Quest is open to a week-long minimum stay, and some of the highlighted excursions include a trip to Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania and to the medieval town of Bran! You have the opportunity to both make a difference in the world and visit somewhere you have never been. Returning from volunteering over winter break will leave you feeling wonderful and is not an opportunity to be missed.
In addition, all volunteers traveling in December and January will receive $100 off their program fee by entering the code WINTER when they enroll – happy holidays!
