Callie, United Planet’s International Programs Supervisor, is currently in Peru helping a few of our volunteers get acclimated to their new home for their 10 day Quest. Here is her update, live from Peru:
When the volunteers arrived on Sunday, we had a welcome dinner with Boris (our Volunteer Coordinator) and a brief orientation for the week. 
On Monday, we traveled to one of our primary schools. The volunteers were able to observe daily classes and had the chance to teach some English! We had some time before Spanish lessons, so I brought the group to San Pedro market to souvenir shop and then we spent some time in Plaza de Armas, the gorgeous center of Cusco.
On Wednesday, we started our two days at the local animal sanctuary. The volunteers got to meet the co-founder, and the local staff, who spoke about all the different indigenous animals that the sanctuary is trying to nurse back to health. We got to clean cages and enclosures and feed some of the wildlife, as well as spend some time with the different animas (wild & domestic).
We have been having Spanish classes, visited Qoricancha, and have a cooking class tonight! We are looking forward to our visit to a local clinic tomorrow, and our trip to Machu Picchu this weekend!
