United Planet Volunteer Renovates Chakuwama Mbezi’s Living Area

June 25, 2019United Planet

Hey everyone! My name is Tess Pollins. Before starting college at Boston University, I traveled halfway around the world to United Planet’s program in Tanzania in Dar es Salaam, where I volunteered for three months. While I was there, I worked at both Zerry’s Education Center – a pre-primary school and the Chakuwama Orphanage. Thanks to the generosity of my friends and family, I was able to raise $950 to renovate the school! I cannot thank everyone who donated enough for their support that turned my vision into a reality.

This June, I will be returning to Dar to take on an even bigger project: the second branch of the orphanage- Chakuwama Mbezi. I want to help the children of Chakuwma Mbezi who are loved by their director, Victor, and have created a family with each other. In order to renovate the current building and construct other buildings to create a thriving orphanage to best support the current children, a LOT of work needs to be done. In total, I have calculated everything to cost $8,000. Thus far I have raised $4,800, meaning I’m over halfway to my goal! While that’s a huge number, every dollar still counts and I kindly ask you to consider making a donation and passing the word along to others who might as well.

For donations, please contact United Planet directly at quest@unitedplanet.org and indicate Donation to Tess Pollins, Tanzania in the subject line. Thank you for your support!

We are inspired by Tess’ passion for the community in Dar es Salaam. Her renovation project will require the united efforts from all of us so please consider supporting.
