In honor of National Volunteer Month, United Planet is giving a shout out and a personal thank you to all of the celebrities who have joined in on the efforts to better communities around the world. Here are 7 celebs who have taken steps to making a difference.
Hilary Swank. Famous star of Million Dollar Baby, Hilary Swank spent time volunteering in India with United Planet. Hilary volunteered her time working with children in an orphanage in Palampur, a village in Northern India. United Planet sends a special thanks to Hilary for all of her awesome work in India!
Seth Green. We’ve all seen his comedic work in either Rat Race or Without a Paddle, but most people don’t know that Seth Green also travels to remote places to help those in need. Seth has volunteered with both Habitat for Humanity and Doctors Beyond Boarders in countries around the world.
Natalia Vodianova. Natalia isn’t only turning heads on the runway as America’s Next Top Model, but is also making a difference for kids in Russia. She is the founder of the Naked Heart Foundation, an organization that serves families of children with special needs and builds inclusive play facilities across the country.
Bono. Renowned U2 vocalist is also devoted to obtaining justice in Africa. Bono founded what is now known as the ONE Organization. His aim is to achieve equality for Africa through debt relief.
George Clooney. Ladies- not only is George a renowned silver fox, but he’s also a community man. In an attempt to aid relief efforts in Sudan, he founded the nonprofit called Not on Our Watch in reaction to the atrocities that happened in Darfur.
Ben Affleck. Ben is a busy man on and off the screen. He founded the Eastern Congo Initiative, which works with local communities and organizations to support victims of sexual violence, vulnerable children, and improve access to healthcare.
Angelina Jolie. Of course we have all heard of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s immense dedication to volunteering with those in need around the world. Jolie has provided volunteer service in more than 20 countries, including Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Cambodia, and Ecuador. Keep up the great work Angie!
